A little sailor

There is a CAL for Doudous like this in the German Crochet group. As there are a number of colleagues exspecting, I thought this would be a nice change from the normal booties. Quite like how this little guy turned out, he reminds me of a little sailor, hence the name.
I first saw this one at stitchesinstyle - hers is extremely cute, too!
I started from the bottom with the head, but I wish I would have started with the hat as given in pattern as the decreases are quite visible, the increases would have been neater - well, next time.
And I forgot to crochet the nose, so I had to add it later by embroidery.
I first did not understand what the translation engine gave me for the ruffle at the head - what I did is turn around and work three dc in the back loop only , alternating with a sc to attach them. Then you turn again and work in the so far unworked front loop - at least that is what I did.
For the edging at the dress, I did tc s , 5 in each chain space, again attaching them with scs.
Left out the bow tie.
Very cute little pattern, I intend to do more from the same designer!
