Contiguous-Methode, 1. Versuch: Hedwigs neue Kleider

Schon ewig wollte ich diese "Contiguous" Methode ausprobieren, also ein Kleidungsstück, das nahtlos vom Halsausschnitt nach unten gestrickt wird, ohne Nähte, und zwar nicht wie beim allseits bekannten Raglan-von-Oben (RVO) mit Raglanärmeln, sondern mit "eingesetzten" Ärmeln. Es gibt bei Ravelry eine eigene Gruppe dafür, und seit neuestem sogar eine deutsche Übersetzung des Prinzips, genannt "Zusammenhang-Methode" (die kannte ich aber noch nicht, als ich Hedwigs Pullover gestrickt habe). Dazu kam, dass ich mich bei Frau Allerleisocken und Frau Tichiro in die Jacken aus Aade Long-Garn verliebt hatte, aber vorher ausprobieren wollte, ob mir das als "etwas rustikal und kratzig" beschriebene Garn dann nicht doch ZU rustikal wäre. Netterweise hat mir Tichiro Reste von ihrer Jacke zukommen lassen und los gings mit Hedwigs neuen Kleidern. Tja, was soll ich sagen: Nicht nur ihr gefällt ihr Minikleid, auch mir die Methode und das Garn! Ich habe als nächstes eine Babyjacke aus Sockenwollresten angeschlagen und eine Strickjacke für mich aus Tweedsockenwolle ist in Planung als Grossprojekt für den Winter...

Contiguous Sweater Knitting: Hedwig's new clothes

Got the Yarn from Tichiro (THANKS!! She used it in this project and had leftovers- what she send me was exactly enough for this sweater, just about 4 meters left) to test if I could stand the “rustic” feel before I invest in pullover quantities - I can, I think… As I plan to knit a Top-Down Cardigan and wanted to try the contiguous method, I thought I would go for this Mini sweater as a gauge swatch. Quite like the outcome (though I would not go for the asymetric version next time). Did a crab stitch crochet border around the neck opening, but I am not too keen on how it looks… Sewed the overlapping fronts in place as I did not want to sew on buttons. Did SC cast off for sleeves (immediately when the pattern tells you to put them on waste yarn) and finishing (from wrong side, to hinder curling to the outside. Did I mention I really like it? So does Hedwig, by the way, and she is really, REALLY picky with what she wears.. ;-) Immediately casted on for my next contiguous project!

Nein, es ist noch nicht Ostern. Aber Hedwig ist sozusagen mein "Hausmodel". Auf diesem Bild modelt sie den Rest meines geribbelten Citron aus Malabrigo Lace - passt ihr doch gut, gell?

Es ist zwar sooo schön weich, aber filzt schon beim Stricken wie die Hölle! Und ich bin nicht so der Fan von Lacegarn, ist mir einfach zu dünn.

Aber Hedwig gefällt es. Und sie drängelt, sie wolle jetzt auch einen Pullover haben... *soifz*

Ich wollte immer schon mal die Contigous-Methode ausprobieren, vielleicht wird mein erster Versuch für Hedwig - das Versuchskannninchen (oh, das mag sie nicht - sie motzt...)

No, it is not Easter yet. But this little bunny is kind of my "house mannequin". Here she is wearing the remnants of my frogged Citron from Malabrigo Lace - suits her well, right?

I would really like to warn you : Do NOT buy this yarn AT ALL! It is really soft, but it felts like hell when knitted already! In addition, I am not really keen on lace yarn, as they are too thin for my taste.

But Hedwig likes it. And she is nagging me to make her a sweater *sighs*

I always wanted to try this contiguous (I can never remember how to spell it...) method, a seamless top-down-set-in-shoulder-construction - so maybe Hedwig will be my guinea pig (it is "test rabbit " in German, so that would fit better..)
